Founded by master saddler and upholsterer Jules-Henri Caillet, Maison Elite has never ceased to cultivate one guiding philosophy: to sleep well is to live better.

A handcrafted heritage
At the end of the 19th century, Elite’s artisans would visit clients’ homes to refill mattresses
whose horsehair had compacted with use. The founding idea was already there: to offer comfort that is both durable and repairable. In 1946, the Maison registered a patent for the assembly of its first spring mattresses. In 1969, it introduced its own box-spring system – a major innovation that became a hallmark of its unrivalled comfort. Since then, generations have followed one another, yet the gesture endures. In the workshops of Aubonne, upholsterers, quilters, mattress-makers and carpenters perpetuate a uniquely Swiss mastery. Horsehair, wool, cashmere and silk, are combined with the most advanced technologies to create a living, breathing comfort designed to last.

Swiss excellence in the service of sleep
When François Pugliese took over the Maison in 2006, he breathed new life into this century-old company, modernising its workshops without ever betraying its soul. Under his direction, Elite obtained the European Ecolabel in 2011 – a mark of environmentally respon-sible production, free from volatile organic compounds and built to endure. This pursuit of excellence finds expression in every creation: individually pocketed springs, hand-finished details, and 100% natural materials. Each mattress has its own inner architecture, designed to balance comfort, support, and temperature regulation with subtle precision.

This harmony defines what Elite calls its “recipe for better sleep”: to ease muscle tension, align the spine, and stabilise body temperature for deep, restorative rest. The fruit of a century of expertise, this recipe continues to evolve with the changing needs of sleepers, refined generation after generation to deliver comfort ever more attuned to the human body. Beyond craftsmanship, Elite embraces rare creative freedom. Its artisanal approach, made possible by complete in-house production at Aubonne, allows for full customisation. At Elite, innovation is never disruption; it perfects the craft and strengthens durability. The Maison developed the SmartLease system, a circular rental model for luxury hospitality, and the WoodenSpring, a Swiss-made wooden spring that combines performance, resilience, and sustainability.
