Transforming
Spaces Vision

Armin Grässl: from beat to breathe – bringing the healing power of nature into the heart of human spaces.

A circle comes full: the former Greengo DJ returns to transform spaces – not with music or flashbulbs this time, but with art, nature, and purpose. If you were part of Gstaad’s glamorous 1980s, the name Armin Grässl will sound familiar. From 1979 to 1985, he was the musical heart of the legendary Greengo Club at the Gstaad Palace, shaping the soundtrack of unforgettable nights for the international high society. For over two decades, he was also the Palace Hotel’s exclusive photographer, capturing its unique world of elegance, nature, and joie de vivre. Nearly four decades later, Armin is transforming spaces once again – now through the quiet, restorative power of nature and a deeply personal mission.

Transforming Spaces, a heart project born from life
Armin’s most meaningful endeavour is the founding of his philanthropic organisation, Transforming Spaces Association (TSA). Its mission: to turn sterile or stressful environments into places of calm, beauty, and healing through his large-scale, backlit nature photography.
“I know from personal experience how profoundly the atmosphere of a room can influence healing.” As a child, Armin spent many years in the Lucerne Children’s Hospital with a tracheostomy. Those early experiences gave him a profound understanding of how much the feel of a room can affect recovery. “Transforming Spaces is my way of giving back – helping people breathe again, not just with their lungs, but with their hearts.”

“Rooms can either weigh you down or they can give you hope.”

Where art, nature, and science meet
Armin’s works are monumental: panoramic photographs up to 3 x 9 metres, composed of 70 to 100 individual shots, printed on museum-quality materials and optionally illuminated from behind. They capture forests, rivers, skies, and sacred landscapes with a sense of both scale and intimacy that invites viewers to pause and feel. Inspired by the Japanese practice
of Shinrin—yoku (forest bathing) and supported by scientific research, his art demonstrates that viewing nature reduces stress hormones, supports recovery, and fosters emotional balance. Whether installed in a hospital, rehabilitation centre, school, or private residence, each piece is more than art – it is a portal to nature, a space for reflection, strength,
and renewal.

“It’s not decoration. It’s a living presence – a piece of the forest, the water, the sky brought indoors.”

A life’s journey in full circle
From the creative ferment of Andy Warhol’s Factory to fashion shoots in Paris, New York, and Vienna – from the pages of “Vogue” to seven years living aboard a boat on Lake Lucerne — Armin Grässl’s life has always been about capturing the essence of moments and atmospheres. His acclaimed book Gstaad is a love letter to Gstaad and the Saanenland – mountain life and high society – praised by icons like Roger Moore, Julie Andrews, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Gunter Sachs. Now, with Transforming Spaces, everything he has lived and learned converges. “It feels as though a circle is closing,” he reflects. “My work began in Gstaad’s most vibrant rooms. Today, it returns to transform rooms once again – but this time, to bring them peace.”

“Every contribution, no matter the size, becomes part of a transformation.”

Art that gives back — and how you can help
The Transforming Spaces Association is a non-profit organisation with a clear purpose:
to bring these healing artworks into places where they are needed most — hospitals, care facilities, schools, and public institutions A portion of proceeds from every artwork funds donations of installations across Europe. TSA also relies on the generosity of individuals, companies, and institutions who share Armin’s vision of art that heals.
